Multiparenting Cayen & Cayson

We have started to toilet train Cayen at home. However, while he is able to pee when prompted, getting him to communicate his desire in advance has not been wildly successful as yet. Yesterday, the diapers in school ran out so the teachers decided to let him try without diapers since they have been toilet training the kids. To this, Cayen said "没有穿裤子，很奇怪”  So teacher asked me to get ready some briefs so he can have something to wear and so I did. He was ok in school, and when teacher led him to the toilet, he even independently made his way to the toilet cubicle and to my Shock, he climbed onto the toilet bowl .. Imagine climb, squat and slide down .. All so that he could sit down properly （since he wasn't tall enough to just sit onto it.） I saw the episode and thought it quite dangerous. He could easily fall into the toilet bowl - I wonder why the teachers would teach him to pee like that. Then I realised after chatting with the teachers that he was taught to pee

This picture shows a visit to the doctor the day after he's 30 months. At 30 months, he has picked up the habits of creating his own lyrics using regular tunes and likes to sing song his sentences. At 30 months, he also likes the concept of Surprises , all thanks to the very powerful Kinder Surprise videos on YouTube. Conversations this month include : Ah Pa: drink your milk milk so you will grow up , like adults Cayen : like Ah Pa, Ah Ma, Ah Gong, Ah Po, Godma, Uncle G? Not sure it's truly from his heart or it's an attempt to escape the milk feed but that was pretty heartwarming. Ah Pa and Ah Ma have been very busy with work of late and are not able to spend much Time with Cayen in the evenings. Today , this episode happened. Cayen was hitting the stacking eggs against the glass table when ah Pa came home, so Ah Pa scolded him loudly. Then Ah Pa spoke to him abt 1 min later. Cayen simply looked down without answering.  Ah Pa : Did u hear ah Pa talking to u (and Ah Pa moved next to him) Then ah Pa saw that Cayen had 3 eggs between his legs ... Cayen : 1 ah Pa egg, 1 ah Ma egg n 1 ah Yen egg.. Then came the killer sentence.. Cayen : "我等你回家好久、你為什麼生我的氣" (I have waited so long for you to come home, why are you angry with me?) 、all while staring at the eggs.  Guilt ridden to the maximum, Ah Pa brought Cayen to Macdonalds for a treat.  Ah Ma could only feel sheer guilt while reading the message from office as she's still there trying to close up her work.   And When Ah Ma finally rushed home, Cayen said in h

This was our second visit to SAM at 8Q .. Once again, they have very interesting exhibits for children and offers a nice alternative to spending time at indoor play gyms. First section involves some mega Tetris looking blocks for kids to arrange ( like Lego) and that station kept Cayen busy for nearly an hour. It's funny to see the dynamics amongst the kids - Cayen is OCD about arranging his blocks neatly to supplement the "bridge" structure, this older boy was bent on destroying the bridge n structure, and how some older western kids were bent on climbing on top of the "bridge".  Then, there was the room where you can cycle to generate lights and sounds (think kinetic energy) .  And this "garden" where you can hang colourful balls just like how you would on a Christmas tree. Recently , Cayen has been singing his responses a lot more recently ... I.e. He would say “no..no..no..." to the tune of some children's song. I think it could be due to the fact that recently at night, I have been doing that a lot during bedtime singing ... Coming up with random lyrics...  For instance, if you use the tune of LOVE (the hi-5 version), that day after he saw some clay at Toy R Us,  I came up with this, C L A Y , I love clay and you love clay  C L A Y , I love clay and you love clay  Red clay, orange clay, yellow clay, rainbow colour clay .. I also use the Bingo song to teach him to spell Cayen - CAYEN..  One night, I tried to motivate him to brush his teeth, by applying the tune of 妹妹背着洋娃娃.. Cayen doesn't like to sleep so night routine is very long and tedious as it involves reading excessively , up to 1-1.5 hour on a bad day. Worse still, in the last two months , he has gotten back to the habit of waking up at night to look for grandma. Sometimes he woke up as he had a bad dream - usually he would be shouting for someone not to take his food or things (I wonder what's going on in school?!) and then he would look for grandma. Some days, he just opened the door, walked in the dark to grandma's room.  Sometimes it happens once a night , sometimes 2-3 times. Needless to say, we are like the walking dead as we have to wake up to work at 6 + am every day.  This week, we tried to get him to sleep earlier - apparently that's quite key in becoming taller.
