Homework

Image
I received the second assignment of the year .. Building something with boxes. Given that I'm lousy with arts and craft, I was happy that the frequency of such homework has not been high. So last week, I asked Cayen what he wants to make and he said the grey Patrol dog and so I decided to see if that's doable with the styrofoam box that I was about to throw away. But I don't have any paints  except watercolour and the effect was not good. And he didn't have much patience to colour the whole styrofoam after a while too. So I decided to abandon mission early as we had only started on the body.  I procrastinated the assignment as long as I could and finally it was due. And I wasn't Keen to buy/waste brand new materials for this so I tried to gather whatever old boxes we can recycle. Finally, we decided to build his house. And I asked him to help stick the building name, his name etc with alphabet stickers which he was very happy to do.  Finally, I asked hi

路见不平 拔刀相助

I asked about his progress from both the English and Chinese teachers these few days. Both commented that he's a lot well behaved recently ..  However , the English teacher did share that he hit a girl today. When asked why, Cayen replied that it's because she took Ryan's (his good friend) toys . But when teacher asked Ryan if it's true, Ryan said it's okie because there's still many toys around. So I told him , "See Ryan loves to share and doesn't mind it, so you don't have to stand up for him. And it's wrong of you to hit people no matter what , just tell the teacher next time.."  Well, I guess the redeeming factor out of this is that he would stand up for people he care about.  Posing with Rainbow (when he's good and cooperative in his morning routine, I let him do it)

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

Cayen has been having this nasty phlegmy cough on and off for the last few months. After trying a lot of western cough medicine in vain and also a failed attempt at paediatric massage, I decided to bring him to a Eu Yan Seng clinic that has paediatric services. After taking the medicine for two weeks and abstaining from a list of things that cause phlegm: - all fruits especially the kiwi that we have been feeding him (apparently the only acceptable fruits are the cooked ones.. Sounds yucky)  - eggs - chicken  - chocolate - biscuit - fried stuff  - bird nest  He recovered.  So we decided to stop going.  And since he has stopped coughing for a few days, we let him eat some fruits again . Unfortunately it triggered the coughing again. So I think we needed another course of medicine and so we had to go back again.  By now, he's so used to the taste of the medicine that a simple gummy bribe will suffice. And he can take the entire serving in one go (about thre

Ah Bu

Cayen went into the lift yesterday and saw a neighbour that we haven't bumped into for a very long time .  For some reason he thought she's Ah Bu (my nanny whom he has only seen a few times) , so he affectionately went over to hug her. And he did it not one time but two times.  She exclaimed that she's very touched ...and in fact she was so pleasantly surprised she forgot to press the button to her level..   (my mum did try to explain Cayen's a bit erratic, usually he doesn't really even say hello).  Nonetheless, he's getting a lot more cooperative in school so now I have more time for non naughty updates ...
