Fighting

Image
Cayson is a people person. When he enters his class every morning , he will greet his friends excitedly and vice versa and they all get along very well.  Yesterday, we were told that a “fight” broke out. Apparently this other boy tried to climb onto Cayson (don’t ask me how) but Cayson didn’t like it, so he protested. All the girls in the class then went to his defence . Some started hitting and biting the other boy so he would get off Cayson.  Hence, during pickup, the teacher was trying to explain to one of the girl’s parent what happened because she was one of those who had helped and bited the other boy.  What’s amazing to me is how kids at a tender age of 2 years old already somehow know teamwork and would go to each other’s defence.

Milestone

Today looks like any other day, until I received an email congratulating me on my 13 years’ anniversary. It’s been so crazy busy of late that I didn’t realise it’s 16th May today, a date I recall fondly every year as it marked the start of a long relationship with the bank and with my friends.  It’s surprising to many that I have lasted so long in my second job . After all, 3 years is about the average lifespan of a job in many industries. Well, guess I have had the good fortune of rotating across many departments and it just doesn’t feel that long when one is on different assignments every 2-3 years, working on different products with different people.  Not many people can confidently say that they love what do , but I’m glad to say that I mostly do.  I particularly enjoy the times where I get to create products or services from scratch , where nothing has existed prior to that. I started my first project with a digital in principle approval solution for mortgage 13 years back before

Haircut

Image
Strangely , while he has been comfortable with the past few haircuts , he is resistant to any haircuts of late. This is very reminiscent of Cayen’s early days . But Cayen was different, he’s ok to have the haircut , he just didn’t like the cloth/apron , and he has to sit on our lap initially.  Comparatively, Cayson was super easy in the initial days. No fuss at all. Not sure why there was a 360 turn in the last one month.  But the fringe is reaching the eyes .. something needs to be done.  Hence, after observing Cayen’s haircut process, I decided that it wasn’t so difficult after all. I could take things into my own hands, literally.  And so I bought some professional scissors ..us$9.60 only ! Got down to work last night. He didn’t struggle at all as he’s watching Peppa Pig.  However, during sleep time, he gave his feedback to Ah Pa after he finished his milk... C: ah pa, 看 P: yes? C: hair.. cut cut cut P: oh yes.. who cut your hair?? C: ah ma.. cut cut cut C: not nice... hair not nice

Cayson is 22 months - early signs of terrible twos

Image
All along we thought Cayson is the easier going one.. after all he eats everything he’s given and he’s so obliging usually.  But something seemed to have changed this month. He’s demonstrated his strong will many a times that he reminds me of Cayen’s early days.  Instead of eating anything now, he now doesn’t even eat breakfast . He also selectively finishes his lunch and dinner. It’s gotta be yummy. A deep fried chicken wing won’t do, it has to be grilled or the steamed Boon Tong Kee kind.  Instead of wearing anything that we choose for him, he now knows what he doesn’t want to wear and what he wants to wear.  Instead of sitting cooperatively in his car seat, he now puts on a daily struggle and delay me for 5-10 minutes. (I managed to crack this by playing the Baby shark song).  He will also go to the fridge and open the door on his own (yes he’s that strong!) and pull out whatever he wants to eat or drink. All these seems to be early signs of the terrible twos, where he now wants a l
