Cayen is 5 years old!

Cayen's 5 years old ! Time flies. Can't believe it has been so long already. Well, I must say that this year has been quite good for him in many aspects so here's the laundry list of milestones.

1. School
Less complaints from teachers, less brushes with other kids. Still have good days and bad days but overall a lot more improved. According to teacher, he enjoys exploratory class like Fast-track and Maths and he also helps to bring learning to a higher level by being able to suggest the right answers. For instance, recently he was asked why the droplets comes down when it rains, he replied "gravity". Despite feeling shy, he managed to complete the school concert. Outside of school, ability to focus has also improved as he transitioned from being unable to sit through a one hour Bobobear class (with movement breaks) to being role model in a 1.5 hour class now.

2. Music
Had his first formal Yamaha lessons. Survived the recital & performance - I think he did a great job indeed. Able to play very short tunes on two hands by memory.

3. Play
Learned how to play Chinese chess and English chess. Recently added Sudoku and Mastermind to the repertoire as well. From almost crying when he loses in Chinese chess to now valiantly trudging despite the outcome, he has come a long way. Of course , this is helped by his reduced loss rate as he has practised a lot and also because he has also memorised the patterns of most of the back of the Chinese chess pieces (when we play the covered version ie 盖棋.) Finally qualified to go to Kidzania and he loved it! In fact, Kidzo dollars form the entire basis of the incentive system for good behaviour right now.

4. Health
Maybe his spleen has matured or maybe the raw honey or cordyceps powder have worked , or perhaps the weekly sports class helped, but his cough incidence rate has gone down though he's unfortunate to suffer a bout the week before his birthday.  Hope it stays the same.

5. Brotherhood
He has continued to love his brother though the fighting and snatching has began. Yes, he doesn't always give in or share all the time  but he does give his brother a lot of concessions ie he will let his brother pull his hair without fighting back etc. He will also share food proactively with brother too.

6. Sports
He has tried bowling for the first time this year and loves it. Still not hot about swimming but no longer fussy about water on his face. Learnt introductory sports like basketball, soccer, rugby, tennis, cricket, volleyball at his sports lesson. His favourite remains the non sport - tug of war !

7. First love
He declared he has found the girl he wanted to marry - C. And that day when I went to school, I think I might have accidentally broken her heart when I tried to tell them that he likes everyone (in response to this other girl J's sharing with me that Cayen only likes her and another girl A). Oops.

8. Others
He attended his first NDP.
