Cayson is 16 months old

I realised that while Cayson's spoken vocabulary range is limited, his comprehension skills is very good , across English , Mandarin and even Hokkien. These were the incidents where he impressed me with his comprehension and even his sense of direction. Whenever .... 

1. Cayen said he want to poop or when we talked about toilet - Cayson would go to the toilet , pick up the potty and deliver it to Cayen. 

2. We talked about going to YiYi 's room to get something , he would walk and bring us to Yiyi's room in the corner.

3. We talked about "getting ready" and "going out", he would go to his bedroom , and get his clothes , pick out his shoes and try to put them on. If he can't reach his shoes, he would climb up the rocker and try to reach it - no qualms about height. If we mention swimming or if he wants to go swimming, he would go to the drawer to take his swimwear. If he saw us getting dressed up, he would point to himself and signal that he wants to get dressed to go too. And if we go out without him, he would cry pitifully. 

4. Ah Gong brings him out, usually they would go to Whampoa, Zhongshan Park or Novena. If Ah Gong walked a path that he doesn't agree with, he would point to his intended destination and try to get out of his pram ! (*gasp*) 

5. He would select the books he want to read. He would chuckle at these specific pages:  "butterfly" page , "the cats are all cool", "seven pandas", and he loves any books that talk about babies. 

6. His brother cries, he would go over and hug him . Pr cry along! (*double whammy*) 

7. He wants to brush his teeth or gargle, he would signal me by brushing his teeth 

8. He knows I don't like him to bite Pikachu's ears, he would look at me and purposely do it to tease me ! 

9. He gets to go out, he will do this exaggerated cheer in the lift on demand . 

10. He wants to do certain things like climbing on the table which will not be approved by Ah Po, he will go to Ah Gong. So he knows who's the Yes man in the house already. 

11. He knows that one has to put money into the slot so that the machine will start moving. 

12. He actually remembers where the machines are . That day he started screaming 100 metres before we reached the machines which were out of sight and blocked by the escalator . He remembered that the machine buses are there. 

13. He heads the word "drive" and starts to pretend to turn the steeering wheel.

Anyway , I realised that his spoken vocab is improving too. After we looked at yummy cakes yesterday , he screamed "Cake!" His only Chinese vocab is 这个，阿爸，阿妈，弟弟，姨姨，哥哥.

His food preferences now : anything yummy and flavourful. He particularly enjoy Ba Lu Gu (what do you call that ?) , Chinese asparagus , bell peppers and even took to Snow Fungus with Dangshen. He also enjoys his wet market trip with Ah Gong and Ah Po as he feasts over local delights like  bee hoon, dry noodles , vegetables rice 菜贩.

Hope he keeps us his good appetite. Starting greens and odd tasting/ flavourful foods from weaning really go a long way.
