A rocky start to March

Ah Po sprained her leg or pulled a muscle , and could hardly walk.

The caring Cayson asked her if she need his help to carry her. 沒有白疼.. also took the chance to teach them yesterday on how to collect the laundry. Cayen helped with a couple of pieces before being distracted by the TV. Cayson followed through till the last piece was collected.

One Sunday, I was trying to sweep and mop the floor. Cayen asked to help and so I let him try. He earnestly cleaned the floor quite thoroughly though his eyes were drawn to the TV towards the end , where he cleaned the same patch many times. Cayson was also given a wiping job so he wouldn’t fight over the wiping - he was extremely conscientious about his responsibility.

Apart from this, I also realised that one month just passed like that. Cayson had concluded his second ever stage performance and Cayen had completed his second month in Primary school.

Cayen has finally moved on to pasta after one month of chicken rice. And just as how he has stayed faithful to chicken rice (until the day the store didn’t open and he had no choice but to try a new food), his diet  switched to pasta for nearly the whole of February. The good thing that emerged from the daily chicken rice for recess, snacks at noon before lunch and dinner meant that he put on nearly 2 kg in 2 months, which was quite a milestone since he was barely touching 18kg for the whole of 2018 despite daily weight monitoring to try to get his weight up.

Cayson also had his Happy Hour in school yesterday where teachers updated us on his progress. His chinese teacher said his mandarin is one of the most advanced in class as he could manage sentences in chinese this year (I was elated for a while until I recollected that most of his classmates are foreigners) . But this evening, he had this exchange with Ah Pa when they were passing by Whampoa market and that kind of proves the point.

C: 我饿了

P:家里有饭吃

C:我很饿

P:阿婆煮了饭

C:我很饿,我喜欢吃东西,可以给我吃的吗?

Haha, his language ability is really quite strong when it comes to food.

His English teacher said that he’s able to share his toys well with his friends  sometimes without prompting.  He’s also nearly fully toilet trained and that’s also very good process.

At this juncture, I realised how Cayen and Cayson are so different in characteristics , and really it’s not about the parenting method but just innate character differences.
