3rd day of school - P4

Before he got get home, we had some insights of his behaviour in school. Through the online chat with Chinese teacher, these were the comments:

“ Cayen’s behaviour is good, attitude is good, he even help to remind teacher of things. And he loves drawing it seems, but we need to remind him on the appropriate time to draw”

Oops, I think reading between the lines, it could potentially mean that he’s “kaypoh” (busybody) and that he’s not paying attention in class.

Hence, once he got home, our first question was what exactly he reminded the teacher of. He said that he reminded them that it was end of class. We were horrified. That sounded like he couldn’t wait to end lessons and exit the class. We asked why he would say that. He said that teacher asked him to remind them of this as there’s people taking the school bus. Ok, then it doesn’t sound that bad.

On why he was drawing , he said he’s drawing dinosaurs as it was very boring and the teachers were repeating things that he already know. I said that first three days were orientation, how would he know whatever teachers are briefing. He said that they were going through a lot of rules .. like what to do in a lockdown , fire drill etc , and he already know that he needs to go to the field. Apparently a classmate asked what if the fire was at the field. And the teacher was funny, and said that of course one needs to be vigilant, listen for where the fire is , don’t go towards the fire.

Another one asked what if the attacker had a bomb, then what good would it do to hide inside the classroom and lock the door? Anyway, recalling the recent river valley incident, I figured a bit more explanation was required. I told him that normally people in singapore don’t have access to bombs or guns but they might have knives so please follow teachers’ instructions and briefing. Then he said, what if attacker picks the lock? Or pushes against the door. He heard from his new friend that her friend knows how to pick a lock. And can he learn how to pick a lock. I said that you need to stack a lot of tables and chairs against the door to block the entrance.

Anyway, after this, I asked him if he made any new friends in class. Answer was still no. And I said then there’s a problem as he didn’t take the school bus home so he’d basically didn’t have a friend to talk to for the whole day. So he needs to try find a new friend in class.

For lunch, he had chicken rice , egg and jelly. I asked him why he kept eating the same thing. He said the queue was very long and that store has the shortest queue but already needed to wait for ten minutes.

Best part of school to date : canteen
Worst part : the stairs
Friends count : 1

That day in school, he wrote his first Chinese essay. And after that he has Chinese enrichment lessons and wrote another essay. I think he suffered a little of essay overdose that day.

After class, Godma brought him out and he was treated to Putien and his old Chang Kee snack. This boy can really eat nowadays. Anyway, this photo reminded me of a photo when he’s about 1 year old where there’s still some resemblances.
