Third day of school

Image
Good morning routine though a bit tired as he slept late last night again. Went to school and sang the "hello" song to friends and I thought it's a good start. However, he didn't really want me to leave unlike the first two days. Teacher scooped him up in her arms so we could make our exit.  At 9am or so, I got a picture from my friend of him playing outdoors at 9 plus in something that looks like obstacle course. I hoped he liked it.  By ten am, I got a missed call from teacher - bad sign ! Then I saw a picture of a bad bite sent through the watsapp. Teacher said that he had bitten a boy when boy tried to join him in kitchen play. And during the outdoor play, he had threw away the balls and the cones. She guessed he might be attention seeking. Sigh, let's see what we can do to try reduce that.  Verdict: 2/10

Second day of school

Same fabulous morning routine today and I tried to send him to school then to work . Timing works out fine as he was able to wake up by 7.30am since he slept early. Perhaps he was very mentally tired after first day. Ate his food in school , drank milk from cup and napped accordingly. Didn't interact much with new classmates (still shy) but at least no scratching or pushing of classmates today.  Only blemish was that he cheekily called the Chinese teacher a monster instead of her name when saying goodbye .  Verdict : 6.5/10 (improvement vs yesterday)

First day of new school

Image
Yesterday , he watched two hours of cartoon on Nic Junior (special concession) and after that, was acting like the Patrol dog in the show. This unexpectedly became a real good thing cox he suddenly became very obedient and helpful. He also understood from that cartoon and the Blaze cartoon that friends need to help one another. So for once, he thought he should make some friends in the new school. And yesterday, we didn't force him to take an afternoon nap because that's a perennial weekend struggle. We just let him be. We baked bread together and he just pretended to be a helpful abiding patrol dog the whole afternoon. By night, for the first time in a long time, he managed to sleep at 9.30pm since he has had no nap.  By the next morning, he still wasn't quite able to wake at 7.30am. However, he did all things perfectly when I said that's what a good patrol dog will do I.e. Drink his milk fast, brush teeth himself (no YouTube!) , change, put on shoes, take photos, pres...

New Year New Beginnings ...

Image
Time flies and Cayen is now 3 year 2 months old ... And the last year has seen this spirited boy grow from strength to strength and his playfulness in leaps and bounds.  What do I mean ? Well, these are his "achievements" for 2015 . He is the boy  - who is top 3 naughtiest in the whole of Mindchamps Zhongshan Park .. - who always sprays the hand sanitiser all over the floor and sometimes throws his classmates' shoes all over the floor on his way home.  - who will run into the toilet with his best friend (he claims is the naughtiest), strip themselves and play with water without permission  - who will fight with his classmates over toys  - who will run under the security gantry barriers instead of through the gantry barriers so he can hear the alarm go off (and no, he's not scared of the security guard threatening to catch him and send him to police station)  - who will ask the security guard and our neighbour for chocolates proactively (after they were kind...

Funny conversations during the Macau trip

Image
(We were just chatting about something in general , then suddenly ... ) C: From now onwards, I will challenge you ..  Me: ??!? ----- I was trying to open a mineral water bottle ; but it was too tight so I passed it to my mum and asked her to help me open. C saw the scene and exclaimed, "next time it's very hard, you pass it to me, I help you open." Then he feigned a trying-very-hard look, and said , I will 'Eee Eee Eee' and I will open for you. " I laughed. Looks like my boy has grown up.  So after a while, when I was trying to open my next bottle, I handed it over to him. He tried to open but failed. So he handed back to me. C: Ah Ma, help me. Me: I thought you wanted to help me? C: you help me open, I help you open .. Ok?? Me: ?!? ----- Ah Pa was with C and were waiting for me and Ah Po to arrive. Ah Pa: oh! I forgot something, it's in the hotel.  C: ok, I will stand here (he shifted to a corner in the busy walkw...

A kids friendly vacation at Macau

Image
Early in the morning, we went to Changi to board the plane. What should have been a calm procedure ended up in panic in the bathroom. We had brought Cayen to the toilet to change diapers, and asked him if he wanted to pee himself. He shook his head and we started changing midway before Ah Po shrieked and swerved. I instinctly jumped aside too. Cayen had peed ... all over the pristine clean floor of the toilet. Sigh. Next we had to clean up the toilet early in the morning.. Great start to the holiday ! Then, Cayen fell asleep in his favourite airport stroller before we even boarded the plane.  So it also meant that he was wide awake the entire 4 hours on board. Not sure if it's due to the breakfast or the minor movement, he had puked a little in the plane. Thankfully it wasn't too much and he was quite composed throughout.  As we took the plane to Hong Kong, we had to take the "Sky ferry" to Macau direct from the airport. Actually in hindsight, I wou...
