Body is weak but mind is strong

Cayen has been sick since Wednesday. It all started weird on Wednesday when I saw that he couldn't finish his favourite Kaya bread and was a little listless on his way to school.  By noon, teacher has called to say he's running a fever. So we brought him home to rest. All seemed well till the next morning when he woke up all red and burning.

My parents quickly brought him to the PD when he was given some medicine to bring down the high fever of 39 degrees. Because he was so sick, he was allowed to watch his favourite cartoons on Nic Junior during his waking hours. And his energy level oscillated wildly within every four hour slot. He would be his normal self half an hour after each medication, and back to being weak and irritable half an hour before time of the next medication. And strangely, he started to deplore taking medicine and resisted all attempts to put any cold cloth or cooling patch on his forehead. Hence, his fever couldn't come down.

By Friday morning, he woke up at 6.45am screaming for Nic Junior . And his temperature was 39+ again and he's crying non stop as we didn't let him watch the cartoon so early. Throughout the day, his temperature oscillated and he would cry whenever he couldn't get his way. It was tough to handle him even with two pairs of hands. And while he was super tired, he refused to take his afternoon nap and insisted on watching more cartoons on iPad after he saw Grandpa use it.

Then came the hypotheses from my mum. Did he eat too much new year goodies. Was it the satay last weekend ? The chocolate chewy junior etc?

Well, I think it's just bugs being in school. The girl he likes to hang out with also had fever and cough as she caught it from her family. Think it's just a matter of him succumbing to the super bug. The perils of pre school .. Many kids = many germs

On Saturday morning, again the routine started at 6am+ when he screamed for Nic Junior. We managed to get him to sleep a little more before he screamed again at 6.45am. I really pity all my neighbours who might be hoping to sleep in on Saturdays. I admire his grit and will, no matter how weak he is, he still have the will and might to throw a big tantrum.

Anyway, we managed to finally calm him down and turned on TV only at a more decent time like 8am lest the 6am becomes a routine.

His fever was better so ah Pa decided to lure him out of the house by bringing him to watch Zootopia while I'm doing my yoga. The moment he stepped into the cab, he fell asleep. I think he missed the start of the show but well , that's the price to pay for waking up so early.

After my yoga, I learned that he had a good lunch and even chatted with the adjacent little girl on Nic Junior. These days, they sure start young.

This shot got me really angry as he's still nursing his cough

Anyway, by 6pm, he zonked out on the sofa suddenly since his afternoon nap was so early. Good luck to us.
