Second day of school

Image
Yesterday we triggered the crying at 10+ am (when he spotted us peeping through the window) so we decided to lay low and be extra careful when peeping today.  Unfortunately , it didn't quite work and still he was crying at 10+ am. Not sure why but he must be missing familiar faces once he has had enough games. Or perhaps he started thinking of us after his morning snack. Honestly, it is so painful to hear his inconsolable crying for such a long while. I almost felt like crying too. But for his own good, we gotta leave him alone and have him get used to being independent and very importantly , learning not to cry if he doesn't get his way, and to learn social skills.  Despite our efforts, he was crying non stop and I had to step in at the teacher's request at 11plus am. Oh, did I mention he also scratched some kids and also re teacher today. My learning for the day  - it is no mean feat being a pre school teacher. I think I would have lost my sanity after one week . It tak...

First day of school

Image
What Cayen did on Day 1 of school :  - Drank normal fresh milk for the first time - Dipped his hands into a baby's cereal  - Drank from some girl's water bottle  - Drank from another's bottle and spit the water  - Snatched someone's toy and scratched him (but pat him after I prompt) - Instigated another baby to pull tissues - Attenpted to lift another baby's head up when she was rolling on the floor  - Instigated another baby to play cars instead of attending lessons. - Ate two bowls of rice  My quick  learning : - I now understand why children fall sick in preschool , out of the 10 or so kids, I spotted 4 with a bad cough. Time to up the vitamins and fruits.  - preschool is not a miracle pill, many children still cry when their parents leave them. - even at age of 1.5-2 years, they can already read and sing along. So early education can work.

Cayen's 2nd Good Friday

Image
The next big thing Cayen is a baby who has watched many movies (within a few months).. At least more than me. His movie repertoire includes Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs, Ah Huat the movie, Frozen, Lego Movie, and the latest Rio 2.  I like the movie Rio 2 for the lovely songs that are full of Samba and also the messages behind the storyline. Though Cayen didn't last through the 2nd half of the movie, I hope he somehow picked up the message that all the illegal logging is clearing our previous forests and whatever species that reside within it. As such, he should think twice before he waste any paper. Else, there might be no Amazon by the time he grows up.  Next, we went to the Japanese restaurant Hoshigaoka at Lido/Shaw  that has the cutest kids' meal .. The set had a katsu-don rice, sausage, hash brown, yakult, jelly, chocolate pocky, tako yaki served in a cute bear box. That kept him entertained for almost one hour and motivated him to self fe...

Caleb's birthday celebration on Easter Sunday !

Image
Woke up to a bright Sunny Sunday so decided to being Family to Pasar Bella for a walk as we are going to be there for Caleb's celebration. Had a big brunch of roast pork, char siew, paella, and penne Arabbiata before exploring the area with Cayen since there's many Easter activities happening. While I had known that the Turf City area is very family friendly , I didn't realise the full range of its tenants. From pre schools to dance studios, you name it, they have it !  A good place to spend the weekend with kids .. I feel like I am in Australia instead of Singapore. A good place for an alternative hangout. Best part is that parking is for free!  Next, we went to help out for our Godson Caleb's birthday celebration. Alvin and Drina had decorated the place so nicely for him. I made sure I took lots of photos so that he could capture all these beautiful memories ! But alas, I don't have much photos with me now as it's all on Alvin's camer...
