Cayen's 2nd Good Friday

The next big thing


Cayen is a baby who has watched many movies (within a few months).. At least more than me. His movie repertoire includes Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs, Ah Huat the movie, Frozen, Lego Movie, and the latest Rio 2. 

I like the movie Rio 2 for the lovely songs that are full of Samba and also the messages behind the storyline. Though Cayen didn't last through the 2nd half of the movie, I hope he somehow picked up the message that all the illegal logging is clearing our previous forests and whatever species that reside within it. As such, he should think twice before he waste any paper. Else, there might be no Amazon by the time he grows up. 

Next, we went to the Japanese restaurant Hoshigaoka at Lido/Shaw  that has the cutest kids' meal .. The set had a katsu-don rice, sausage, hash brown, yakult, jelly, chocolate pocky, tako yaki served in a cute bear box. That kept him entertained for almost one hour and motivated him to self feed. We'll be coming back soon. 

Then we went to Takashimaya to do some shopping and I picked out these cute cloths at 3 for $10. Thought it was a steal and grabbed 3 to go. Before we adjourned home, decided to drop by City Square to check out some books for Cayen. The first thing we saw there were the same cloths we bought selling at 4 for $10 ! That reminds me to not take a bargain for a bargain .. a sale item might not always be the cheapest, especially when shopping in town.

But alas, before we could even get to the book store, we were so exhausted that we stopped at Macdonalds to grab a big drink and to feed him some milk. I find that the Macs cup and a straw was one of the most effective ways to convince him (a baby who will rather play than to drink milk or sleep) to drink his milk very quickly. 

I also redeemed this free ice cream I got so that Cayen could taste his first ice cream cone from Macs. Of course, I had to sacrifice by eating 90 percent of the ice cream before giving him the remnant ice cream and cone - I suspect that's where my 1 kg of weight increase over the last two days came from. 

Then, we went to pick out some new books for him at this new book store My Greatest Child at B2. Prices were quite cheap as compared to the big stores so I got him 3 books ranging from $6-15. 
Then, I got a shock when he called this guy on poster Ah Pa ! Hope he will not go around calling every long hair guy Ah Pa .

We went for curriculum updates last week for Cayson and the week before for Cayen. Bumped into the English teacher who told me that Cayen eats his lunch very well including vegetables (doesn't sound like him at all). She also mentioned that Cayen likes to test boundary. Recent case in point , teacher would ask the children to not talk in the toilet as it could be noisy for the children in the adjacent classroom. As he wasn't allowed to talk, he purposely started singing instead. Then our discussion was cut short and I wondered how the teacher responded to his singing eventually.  Nonetheless , this is one of the many instances where Cayen would not do things the conventional way. In Cantonese, I might even call him "Seng Mok" (savvy). For instance , previously , he was spotted sipping lime cordial juice on a plate -he has helped himself at the dispenser without my knowledge . Feedback from teachers

As part of the regular meet the parent session, I joined Cayson to make ice cream. Think I must be the only one who managed to tear two plastics bags in a row due to vigorous shaking. It’s good fun as Cayson tried his hand at making ice cream from Meiji strawberry milk.  Teacher’s feedback on him is still good as usual as he’s still quite an obedient and easy going kid though she did remark that he’s picky with some food like vegetables now. And whilst he’s 99% agreeable in the past, he’s been more prone to his own opinion (I read it as trying to get his way). And sometimes he followed his classmates’ action of scribbling away randomly during colouring when he used to colour carefully within the lines. Observations were quite in line with what we see at home. Recently he would cry when he doesn’t get his way. For instance, we were playing snakes and ladders and he started crying when I made him slide down when he hit a snake. He kept screaming “I want to win”. Later on, he proceeded to

This is dedicated to my dear friends who are expecting their bundle of joy very soon. Being a hassle-free type of mother who needs to go back to work after maternity leave, and also one who likes a good bargain, these are the things I personally find very useful, practical & cost saving. 1. A good breastfeeding pillow  - my Brestfriend  For some strange reason, I didn't see the need to invest in this initially. But this has to be the top 1 or 2 items I cannot live without during the first few months. No matter how I positioned the normal pillows, I just couldn't get the right positioning without straining my shoulders/ back. So yes, this is first on the list. Anyway, if your milk production is low, try papaya with fish soup and remember to drink lots of water.
