Cayson is 14 months old

Cayson is all about mimicking actions now.

Every day he is now wielding a cloth and wiping the floor and the tables . After wiping, he will go to the dustbin in the kitchen , open the cloth and "shake" out the dust , just like Ah Po.

Every day, whenever he feels like going out, he will bring Ah Gong to the shoes corner and beckon Ah Gong to help him wear  his shoes . This happens multiple times a day .. so he's known throughout the block by neighbours and security as he's always hanging outside. Recently , he will try to take a bag (of random things) before heading  out , just like us. In the picture, he had randomly grabbed a bag containing a floor mat.

His most notable Achievement now is to be able to shake his head to indicate that he doesn't want to . I don't know why they program kids to know how to say no before yes. But thankfully he mastered the signal for yes soon after. As he can't really nod, he kind of rocks his whole body to and fro to indicate yes - it's real cute actually. That's actually very good because we can better understand what he wants recently , though usually he will shake his head violently to let you know he doesn't want something.

This boy has a clear mind of his own. When he wants to drink milk, he will signal Ah Po to go to the island top and mix the powder and water accordingly . He will follow her and monitor her actions before he's satisfied.

While he started out not being able to pay attention to storybooks for more than 2 pages, now he is able to sit through 5-6 books every night now. And I know he remember the story because of these reactions:

- hungry caterpillar : he says "umm!" to represent the eating of the apple

- brown bear : he laughs out loud every night without fail when I reach the page of the " children children looking at you "

- counting book : he smiles whenever I reach the page on Pandas

- hands hands fingers thumb: he will start tapping on the book like how I will usually illustrate by tapping my thumbs and fingers on the book.

- splish splash : he will shrill in delight as I touch his hands, his feet, and rub his body as I mimic the bathing actions per the storyline.

At this point, his vocab remains limited:
- all vehicles are fondly known as "ba" though he is trying to say "bus"
- he calls both me and Ah Pa  "Ah Ma" though when he's in a good mood, he will call Ah Pa "Ah Pa"  too.
- he says "cat" when he sees the cats lounging around
- he says "bird" but sounds likes "ba!" too.
- he says "ba!" when he's trying to say peek-a-boo! too.

Thank goodness I decipher cryptic messages very well due to my years of regional training .. haha.
