Multiparenting Cayen & Cayson

Ah Pa noticed something about Cayen's goodbye routine, he always stops for two special persons.  So here's how his daily routine goes everyday:  - finish eating  - take his bag - goes to every table to say bye bye  - stops in front of 2 girls to say bye bye  - occasionally the girls will see him to the door thereafter  So one day last week, ah Pa decided to ask him some questions ; Ah Pa: is your Jiajun (boy) your friend ?  Cayen: no  Ah Pa: is Emily your friend ?  Cayen: *smiles bashfully* (covering mouth)  Ah Pa: is Rachel your friend ?  Cayen: *smiles bashfully* (covering mouth)  Our conclusion : he likes the girls more.  Today , yet another (different) girl saw him off. Now with kids , spontaneity (for adult outings) is hard to come by as one needs to consider the babysitting arrangements etc. However, over this long weekend, I realised that spontaneity for family outings can be quite possible and most fun too!  On Saturday, we woke up at 8 plus am per Cayen's bio clock and was toying with the usual question ? What to eat for breakfast. Usually it's between going to the wet market or hawker centre for some local food or some brunch grub. At 10.05am, we were still grappling over the breakfast issue when suddenly someone thought of a movie. Yes, a movie sounds good!  So for which timing? 10.30am, 1.30pm or 3.30pm? Nearest cinema is Plaza Sing.  Intuitively, I wanted to go for 10.30am as it means that we could probably eat breakfast over entertainment and we can maximise our time since we had nothing to do then.  So we grabbed our stuff, dressed the baby and managed to get our seated at 10.40am, just before the sho...

Cayen is a kid with a mind of his own. Hence, efforts to stop him by saying "No" usually end up futile.  So ever since a successful try at this alternative method, I have been using the questioning way to get him to be more obedient.  Setting: he's trying to snatch my iPhone. I pointed to his toy 1 and asked him , is this yours ? He said "no?" , I exclaimed "yes, it's Cayen!!" Pointed to toy 2, 3, 4 .. And asked him the same question to which he started to say "yes" after a while. And he was quite gleeful that so many things belong to him . Finally, I asked him if the iPhone is his, he said "mama!"  That's how he got the concept of what's his and what's mine. Before the exhibition ends in late July, we decided to bring Cayen to see the dinosaurs exhibition at the art science museum. Doing something indoors was a good move as it started drizzling after we reached. While the exhibition was nicely lay out in a visually appealing manner, I felt somewhat disappointment that most of the exhibits are cast and only a small handful of "real fossils". Nonetheless, it was interesting walking around the exhibits of dinosaurs and some lizard, reptile Dino lookalikes. The walk in the musuem was exhausting as Cayen was excited and kept running around non stop. At the end of a what feels like 4 hour walks (it was less than 2 I believe), the adults were exhausted and had to adjourn for late lunch at at Ding Tai Fung. The queue was still long at 3pm plus but I think it's mainly due to slow clearing of tables than actual full capacity. Nonetheless we had to camp outside the restaurant for about 15 - 20 minutes.
