Spontaneity

Now with kids , spontaneity (for adult outings) is hard to come by as one needs to consider the babysitting arrangements etc.

However, over this long weekend, I realised that spontaneity for family outings can be quite possible and most fun too!

On Saturday, we woke up at 8 plus am per Cayen's bio clock and was toying with the usual question ? What to eat for breakfast. Usually it's between going to the wet market or hawker centre for some local food or some brunch grub. At 10.05am, we were still grappling over the breakfast issue when suddenly someone thought of a movie. Yes, a movie sounds good!

So for which timing? 10.30am, 1.30pm or 3.30pm? Nearest cinema is Plaza Sing.

Intuitively, I wanted to go for 10.30am as it means that we could probably eat breakfast over entertainment and we can maximise our time since we had nothing to do then.

So we grabbed our stuff, dressed the baby and managed to get our seated at 10.40am, just before the show started. By splitting tasks, I managed to buy some croissants for the family too.

The show involved an army of black ants, red ants and ladybirds. There was no spoken words throughout the whole show as something was expressed using the language of the insects. I was a little bored after a while but Cayen managed to stay enthralled throughout 90 percent of the show. He was looking out for the ants and ladybirds. And of course the delicious croissants from Swissbake helped. I believe this is his best behaviour during a movie so far, fully awake for 90 minutes and fussing only in the final 10.

On Sunday morning, same breakfast dilemma happened. This time, we decided to dispense with a simple breakfast and bring Cayen to Sentosa. At last minute, we managed to ask WJ, ZY and Pak along. The decision making and setting out again took merely 40 min , this again was no mean fear as we were talking about two families with two kids.

We got to the SEA aquarium and saw the beautiful fishes. Actually for both boys, this was not their first visit but I believe they might not have remembered much from their first since they were both very young then.

The boys had a good time looking at the amazing sharks, dolphins, stingrays, jellyfish and all. I enjoyed it too as I always like aquariums since I don't dive and that's probably the nearest I can be to them.

Cayen was probably tired out from all the site seeing and he slept for almost three hours. When he woke up at 5.30pm, the same question popped up, what's for dinner?

As my mum was not cooking , we decided to go out. Decided to go to Esplanade so Cayen could stroll around before dinner and if we were lucky, perhaps there's some free concerts. And indeed there was!

We stumbled upon Jazz in July series of free outdoor concerts and saw an amazing performance by Tanglin Rose Big Band. The band was really good, and so were the two vocalists that sang. I think one was called Cheryl and the other Haikel.

Anyway, I think Cayen liked it too. He was swaying to the music, with snack in hand. I think this boy really got a thing for music and Rhythm ... This is signal for more concerts to come.

On Monday , went to celebrate god grandma's birthday at Jumbo. And Cayen had his first brownie and chocolate cake. Thereafter, sugar rush hit and he was all over the place in the afternoon while 干妈 and 妈妈 had to go back to office to work. So the fathers took over from there. Again, another spontaneous afternoon of merry making.
