Dino Day at art science museum

Before the exhibition ends in late July, we decided to bring Cayen to see the dinosaurs exhibition at the art science museum. Doing something indoors was a good move as it started drizzling after we reached.

While the exhibition was nicely lay out in a visually appealing manner, I felt somewhat disappointment that most of the exhibits are cast and only a small handful of "real fossils". Nonetheless, it was interesting walking around the exhibits of dinosaurs and some lizard, reptile Dino lookalikes.

The walk in the musuem was exhausting as Cayen was excited and kept running around non stop. At the end of a what feels like 4 hour walks (it was less than 2 I believe), the adults were exhausted and had to adjourn for late lunch at at Ding Tai Fung. The queue was still long at 3pm plus but I think it's mainly due to slow clearing of tables than actual full capacity. Nonetheless we had to camp outside the restaurant for about 15 - 20 minutes.

In the meanwhile, Cayen was contented running around an advertisement involving a Swatch watch and a children clothing ad featuring a sweet young thing UNTIL this little girl came up to Cayen. I think she was curious and wanted to get closer to him. So I told him to extend his hand to shake her her hand. Surprisingly he did, and for a while too.

However, she didn't reciprocate. So he dropped his hand after a while. Then, suddenly the girl's mother came towards Cayen, probably to shake hand or something. Before I knew it, Cayen said "Mai!" and slapped the mother on the face.

I was shocked.

I kept apologising to the mother who muttered repeatedly that "打我不要紧,不要打我女儿”  (it's OK to hit me but please don't hit my daughter). I felt so bad and told Cayen off. However, Cayen didn't seem remorseful. To him, he's just fending off something that he didn't want coming near him. But slapping people is wrong. And I would need to find a solution to the new found problem. Sigh. Welcome to Terrible Twos.

Anyway, to end the  day on a more light hearted note, we caught some shots of him carrying a shopping bag (it's quite funny how he kept changing posture and handling method after he got tired) and being very pleased about his independence, although the gift was not for him. Naughty boys do not get presents. Fullstop.
