爸：Cayen, 你越来越像阿妈了. 妈：这样很好啊，比较好看 爸：Cayen, 阿爸帅吗？ C： 帅 ... .. 我也很帅！  （哈哈！真不要脸） ------ 爸：明天要去银行拿钱包红包 妈：不用去，我这里有，可以先拿去 爸：你不讲我怎么懂你有 C：我有！ 爸：你有cash 啊？ C：我有cash card !  (Wah!! Really savvy )

After a peranankan meal ... Me: only that Babi Ponteh is not so nice. C: barbie doll? Ah Pa: who taught him barbie doll? Me: not me ...but he should know Barbie la .. Ah pa: at this time and age, who knows Barbie ? C: Gwen has Barbie doll!  Me: See!  Ah Pa: is Gwen in class today ?  Ah Po: yes, Gwen is in class today. Ah Pa: Ye sterday he said Gwen is on holiday.. Ah Po: you believe him ? He always sprout nonsense  C : Soli Soli Soli (using the tune of the Korean song) .. We laughed out loud. 

(We were just chatting about something in general , then suddenly ... ) C: From now onwards, I will challenge you ..  Me: ??!? ----- I was trying to open a mineral water bottle ; but it was too tight so I passed it to my mum and asked her to help me open. C saw the scene and exclaimed, "next time it's very hard, you pass it to me, I help you open." Then he feigned a trying-very-hard look, and said , I will 'Eee Eee Eee' and I will open for you. " I laughed. Looks like my boy has grown up.  So after a while, when I was trying to open my next bottle, I handed it over to him. He tried to open but failed. So he handed back to me. C: Ah Ma, help me. Me: I thought you wanted to help me? C: you help me open, I help you open .. Ok?? Me: ?!? ----- Ah Pa was with C and were waiting for me and Ah Po to arrive. Ah Pa: oh! Recently, he has been very naughty in school. From snatching to biting, he has done it all. Serious regression.  When his form teacher confronted him and chided him, he retorted that anyway he will not be studying there anymore. His teacher was infuriated and told him that he still need to behave as he's still here.  Honestly we have not even told him about changing school for a month already (though I did told him a few times causally that we will be hanging to a school with playground some time back). I don't know if it's the fact that he knows his school teacher is leaving  year end or that he is leaving year end that he's behaving so badly of late or it's just terrible threes . Whatever it is , I think it will be a trying transition come year end.  And honestly , where did he learn to retort to teacher in such a matter of fact / irreverent manner? Today I was watching a very good Barbie YouTube video  http://youtu.be/l1vnsqbnAkk   and I decided to show Cayen as there's lots of kids acting in there. At night, I asked Cayen to mimic what he saw in terms of the first role play of a teacher.  Before he did, he asked me to start first. And I did a short speech about brains. Then he asked Ah Pa to say a speech about brains too. Ah Pa started, "Cayen's brain is growing from small to big. It's getting bigger and bigger but Cayen will still snatch , bite and throw things.. So the brain is not working sometimes. Why?"  Cayen exclaimed, "it's loading...wait a while.." After a while, he said ,"it's still charging".  We collapsed in laughter.  ---- When he was tasked to throw some rubbish into the bin, he came back and reported to Ah Po that ,"I smell some oranges" Ah Po was so impressed by his keen sense of smell. She had sneakily ate some oranges in his abs...

C: 谢谢你阿爸，我喜欢做你的儿子 .. ----- C found my lozenges lying around and he said, "阿妈，为什么你的药没有收好，没有绑起来，被我找到，我很生气！” (and he knocks on my toilet door and kept repeating 我很生气） ----- On the phone with Godma.. C: I put the cake in the box . Do you want to come and eat ?  ------- C: Ah pa, you never reuse, reduce and recycle. Naughty Ah pa !  ------- Ma: do you love me? (No response) Ma: do you love me? (No response) Ma: boohoo.. Mama is sad. You never answer me.  C: I am eating raisin .. I cannot speak .  ------- He's up to his usual mischief again and he tried to overturn his milk bottle on the bed. I immediately swooped the bottle up and thankfully not a drop spilled.  I exclaimed,"幸好妈妈反应快..” Later on , he did it again Ah Pa turned his back. And Ah Pa didn't manage to stop him. Then he exclaimed , "阿爸反应慢！ Ah Pa asked , ”为什么？” C: 阿妈看到就拿走了！

Cayen wanted to watch Youtube so he went over to turn off Ah Gong's channel. Ah Gong made a groan and told him that he wanted to watch Snooker. Cayen retorted," No more snooker for Ah Gong" Very unsympathetic.  ---- Cayen was having his cereal but instead of sitting down, he stood on a stool and ate at the island counter. We told him to come down and eat in case he falls. He retorted, (" I will be careful.")  Very grown up.  ---- Adults were discussing what to have for lunch. I suggested to bring out the instant noodles to try clear some of the ones that may be coming to expire soon. Suddenly, Cayen said while watching his Youtube, ("I will eat the expired ones").  Very altruistic. ----- Ah Po: legoland 好玩吗？ C: 好玩！ Ah Po：不好玩啦 C： 你不懂的... Very self assured.  ---- In the cab, a few of us were talking. Then Godma mentioned this particular name and told Cayen it's called Uncle S***** a. As we were in the middle of conversation, he suddenly said ,...

Tomorrow is what day ? C : Monday  Godma (GM) : On Monday, ah Ma goes to ... C: Work  GM: Ah Pa goes to ... C: Work  GM: Cayen go to ... C: Work  GM: where are you working at? C: Citibank !  (Everyone laughed out loud) GM: what do you do there? C: Pay money ! (Hahahaha! Faints.) ----------- Cayen heard the door open. He went to the door excitedly and saw that it's Godma. First thing he said , "do you bring your Handphone ??"  Talk about 心机！ 

Today he wanted to run into the restaurant when we were hanging out at Ion 55th floor.  I told him, you need money and I don't have. So you better go to Ah Pa. To that , Cayen said "Ah pa , I want money to go to restaurant !" I was stunned by his grammar and sentence structure.. School must be doing a good job or he's quite good in absorbing such stuff from our usual conservations. Anyway, we did a SG 50 family portrait before that .. It was rather fun to sketch our portrait .. And be part of the SG portraits ... 

Y esterday we had a family party .. As usual, Cayen had initially responded to newcomers with a "Mai" (no). When changing his diapers , I told him, if you want your "qoo" , then you better say "hello uncle , hello auntie" later on. We walked out and suddenly he was saying hello to all jovially, a complete changed person. 真现实！  For some reason, he suddenly asked this auntie "what's your name?". When she replied Cristina, he gleefully repeated after her.. to everyone's great surprise. And he went in to remember it for the rest of the meeting. There was this other auntie who asked him to call her but he said "I don't know". After that she told him that she's called Mummy and he should call her "Mummy" ... and he did ! All because she promised a whole box of qoo juices for him. This was the same auntie that he said Mai over 10 times when she first arrived. At 26 months, I must say that his mandarin is looking stronger than English , at least in sentence making.. But given that his vocab in English is sometimes better than the mandarin, what we get get is the true blue singlish.  Anyway, here's some recent funny conversations ..  ----- I was carrying him while trying to wear my shoes , so he was hanging a little precariously .. Last week , ah pa went to pick him up from school. Before he left, he went around to each table and held up his fists to the boys , and said ”打架！打架！”  Ah Pa then learned from the teacher that the boys usually have more conflicts as compared to the girls.. Now it all makes sense some of the things Cayen have been telling us :  Q: who are your friends / who like you : who do you like the most ?  A: Emily, Rachel, Gwen, Kerrine, Nana (teacher) , 陈老师，madam tan. Jiajun Mai (don't want), Timothy Mai , Asher Mai, Yoko Mai (his ex principal)  But still , who taught him 打架？And honestly he's the second smallest guy in class (he's the youngest boy) and he dare go pick a fight ! Or perhaps he dared to challenge then openly when his ah pa is there and he has got backing ? Well, boys ! 

Cayen was window shopping with his ah ma (grandma) while ah pa and I were running some errands. He saw some staircases and wanted to go up. So he turned to ah ma4 and told her earnestly ," ah pa is up there. Go up there to find ah pa" Ah Ma flatly refused as we refused to be tricked into doing so by a two year old. I wonder if he's making an excuse to go climb the stairs or he sincerely believes that ah pa is upstairs. Ah am obviously thinks it's the former. Anyway, recently , he has been on much better terms with ah gong as he has been bribing him with sweets and ice cream treats. So from ah gong "mai" (don't want), it has become ah gong 抱抱. That day he blurted out "阿公抱抱有目的! 吃糖糖”  We burst out laughing. Somehow he had picked up the terminology 目的 (motives) from somewhere, probably all of us. I doubt he knows the exact meaning but he obviously associates it with his behaviour of asking for ah gong to carry whenever he wants a snack.  Well, his purpo...

Blabber blabber blabber .., cayen sure talks a lot of late. I was rather curious if that's the norm for a kid of his age. I tried to ask my mum but apparently he's the only talkative one in class, the rest don't seem to talk much. Just to confirm if it's indeed the case, I decided to interview him myself : 妈： cayen, 你在学校有没有朋友跟你讲话？ Cayen: Emily .. Gwen .. 阿公： 乱讲  妈： 真的吗？ Cayen: 阿妈没有朋友怎么办？ Haha, he picked this phrase up from a few days ago. I was trying to talk to my friend but he kept interrupting and asking my friends to go. I told him that I would lose my friends in that case. That was when he started to ask me what am I to do if I have got no friends.  It was a hectic week of work and events. Hence, today was the first night since Sat that I managed to see Cayen before he falls asleep. Once I entered the door, he said this: "阿妈吃 baba (meat)" I said :"好吃啊？” Cayen: 好吃...good !
