Multiparenting Cayen & Cayson

For all his eloquence since a tender age , he is unable to reliably indicate his desire to go to toilet even till now. Not sure if he's purposely teasing or he still can't do it yet. Initially it was showing early signs of success in his own school (as teacher was trying to teach him) but this took a backseat after he changed school early this year as we had other problems to deal with. Recently, we reactivated our efforts to toilet train him again and basically , he will get two stickers for peeing and ten stickers for pooping. And he has been earning more stickers of late though u nlike other kids, he has shown more success peeing than pooping.  And he usually likes to stand and poop in a specific corner in the living room .. So I am training him to sit and hold on to the table for support and strength instead.  Hope that the days of diapers will be over soon ! 

We have started to toilet train Cayen at home. However, while he is able to pee when prompted, getting him to communicate his desire in advance has not been wildly successful as yet. Yesterday, the diapers in school ran out so the teachers decided to let him try without diapers since they have been toilet training the kids. To this, Cayen said "没有穿裤子，很奇怪”  So teacher asked me to get ready some briefs so he can have something to wear and so I did. He was ok in school, and when teacher led him to the toilet, he even independently made his way to the toilet cubicle and to my Shock, he climbed onto the toilet bowl .. Imagine climb, squat and slide down .. All so that he could sit down properly （since he wasn't tall enough to just sit onto it.） I saw the episode and thought it quite dangerous. He could easily fall into the toilet bowl - I wonder why the teachers would teach him to pee like that. Then I realised after chatting with the teachers that he was taught to pee...

Ever since the last time Cayen went to a very hot wet market, he's now reluctant to go to the market as he's a bit of a polar bear - doesn't take to heat very well. So this time when we went to the market, he went to the playground next to it instead. He climbed up the stairs for about ten times I think , exhausting his poor mama me. He was also happy to be in the companionship of two little girls who were climbing up and down as well. After the market, we went home but soon proceeded downstairs to play and also swim as Zach and Xavier were going down as well. While Xav was younger than Cayen , he certainly took to the water like a fish and hardly flinched even when he dipped his head into water or sometimes swallowed some water. Cayen, in stark contrast, was mightily upset whenever water was splashed into his face or if he accidentally dunked. Conditioning is all the difference ... Cayen, you gotta practise more. Mama is gonna get ready her sunblock. Thereafter, aft...

In the last 19 months, I have come to realise that there are very little toys that can be relevant to a toddler for long. The ironic thing is that the ones that can attract the baby's attention for the longest time in a session and over a period of time tends to be the most unexpected .. And often the cheapest options: 1. IKEA stool When upright like this , it can serve initially as a table when toddler is and also as a seat when he's able to walk. When flip upside down, it serves as a great support tool for the baby who's just learning to walk. It's much sturdier than most toys in the market (as it doesn't have wheels so it doesn't glide too fast) and it's hard to topple when the centre of gravity is on the floor. I have three walkers/ pushcart of sorts, this is his favourite. 2. Plastic cups, spoons , containers, bottles (empty of course) He loves stacking them up, putting and transferring things using these, and pretending to feed hims...

Today Cayen was naughty and wanted to play with the cat litter. Grandma slapped him one of his legs to dissuade him , he didn't cry. He promptly volunteered his other leg for slapping as well. Not sure whether to laugh or cry but this is one thick skinned boy. At night, I was told he knew that Lee Qi Da is Ah Pa and Lim Shock Chin is Ah Mama (after being told by Grandma this morning. And before we knew it, he was matching names to name cards . This fellow sure starts networking young! P.s. not sure where he learnt that laughter from ...  

It all started with an usual car ride where Cayen was getting fidgety. So Godma had to sacrifice her Chanel bag to let him meddle. Before long, we realised that he could open the CC lock! We tried to test it again yesterday and he still remembered how to. Plus , he demonstrated how to close it .. What an expensive way to train his motor skills !
