Multiparenting Cayen & Cayson

Yesterday I read an article appealing for  boyhood  and it really struck a cord. I have observed that little girls play completely different from little boys. Little boys tend to be very active , more cheeky and more likely to play a bit rougher and act on impulse.  That day, we went downstairs to play with lanterns. The playground slides were all wet after the rain. Cayson went directly for it, touching the wet slides , the floor, the fallen leaves . I didn't stop him as I think it's great sensory play. He was also amazed and delighted at what he's touching.  As Cayen was having a cough , I didn't want him to run immediately after dinner, I gave him some bubbles to blow. So he was blowing bubbles non stop. This other little boy who joined us later was excited and started to try catch the bubbles. I was totally cool with that but I could hear the mum's disproving tone about him being all over the place, especially when he almost tripped and fell. He tried to play on...

It started with Da getting a high fever on Thursday night. So we canned the usual Friday night plans and had dinner home. I also took Cayen to Jerome's 100 days party on my own. Cayen had a good time as Marilyn and Marcus had prepared some nostalgic old school snacks for the kids and his highlight was the bubbles that entertained him for a long time.  As Da was sick at home, I decided to bring him on a bus adventure where we randomly boarded the first double decker bus that came. It was so random that I didn't even know the bus number after I was comfortably seated. I had to ask my fellow passengers who might think I'm quite strange . I soon figured out that we are heading towards Boon Lay interchange , with the bird park and science centre in between. As I didn't have my membership card with me, I managed to convince Cayen to alight at the science centre instead,  We then spent the next 2-3 hours at KidsSTOP which was funny and educational. Read about the new playground at Turf City Grandstand and decided to check it out. It didn't disappoint as Cayen was able to entertain himself in the playground for around two hours and in the adjacent arcade for another two. The main playground was a little crowded from 2-4pm on a Sun but the crowd tapered off at 5pm+.  Interesting concept where you can buy a prepaid card and use it at various stations. For instance, the playground with unlimited play section cost $22, but playing at another arcade machine will cost $2 per play. There's also a rather clean looking sand play area where one can pay $5 I think to play for 30 minutes.                    I didn't let Cayson go into the playground as it was too crowded but it's free for under 1 year old. It's the opening weekend of the first ever Children's Biennale 2017 , which will open till 8th October 2017. Hence, we headed down to the National Gallery to check it out. Singaporeans bring your IC as you can get in free. You can get your kids this $5 interactive pack that will come with stickers which can be used for one of the installation.  Yayoi Kusama’s Oblieration Room - big word for a very fun room  First stop was this very special white room where children are invited to paste the colour stickers/ polka dots anywhere in the room, from walls to sofa to lamps and tables. Both kiddos were super excited of course and even I think it was so fun."First time I can anyhow paste," is Cayen's insights though I was more like "And also the last time you can anyhow paste".  That's an idea for revamping our children's room in future. Today's a special day as it was Baby Owen and Baby Kyra's full moon party. We headed out for both parties to send our warmest wishes. As usual, once Cayson sat in my baby carrier and we stepped out of the house, he actually shrieked and waved his arms excitedly ! This little guy loves to go out and play.  At Owen's party, Cayen, Don and Caleb ran around the room , and played with balloons and catching. Was happy to see the kids having fun.  At Kyra's party, Cayen was asleep for most of the first half but woke up with renewed vigour and jumped non stop on the bouncing castle with Caleb and Khai Yao - laughing and shouting that 2 years old and below not allowed.  After the lovely parties, we headed home and we realised that Cayson's two front teeth (bottom row) is out. Also, he can now stand on his own for 2-3 seconds! 2 achievements unlocked all in one night. Even Cayen was excited for his brother too. What a great day it was! 

Cayen went downstairs to the pool with my helper today to do some skate scooting as they couldn't find us on 14th floor. I was told that he stood there , saw Xavier in his home and beckoned him to come down to join him on the 5th floor. That's the first time he did that (he arranged his own play date!) and I was impressed by the great leaps he has made recently in forging friendships. He had a great time with Xavier as they examined millipedes and even spotted a grasshopper. He was also scooting much faster than before, perhaps due to positive influence from Xavier.  Later on, both of them went to another neighbour's house to play and i was happy to know that he was able to play very well with them.  When I finally picked him up half an hour later, he didn't want to go. He wanted to stay with his friends and play with shadows in the bedroom where they are hunting for some animals. (This is ironic as he's always saying he doesn't like the dark every ...

We had a basketballer mummy gathering at Art Museum last Sat. The kids were given instructions to create an artwork of their family with parental guidance. However, Cayen as usual didn't want my help , he wanted to do it his way. Hence, his piece was quite different.  Thereafter, we had lunch at Dome before some of us proceeded to the National Museum for the indoor playground. However, as luck would have it, it was closed for renovation ! We have been so many times but they had to be close when I was trying to show Don Don. Anyway, we chanced upon another exhibition which had a room full of big balloons! The kids were so excited and played in there for so long - they didn't want to leave. Then, we came across another exhibit where one could bring a piece home as well.. And so we did. The pictures were so cute ! All art should be so fun!
