Multiparenting Cayen & Cayson

It was sad and rather scary to hear of the bombing in Bangkok, especially since we took the whole family there a few weeks ago. While we have all enjoyed the trip tremendously , I think it would be a while before I would bring all there again.  Anyway, here's some highlights of what we did there .. - went to the amazing zoo and Safari just 40 minutes away from city. Inside here, the animals performed every hour and amazed us with their spectacular performance.  Sea lion show:  http://youtu.be/s7mSZdn0LnM In the mini safari , it has the highest concentration of white tigers, giraffes and zebras over the smallest land area .. It's really up close and personal .. Just make sure you don't wind down the windows.  - took the "leisurely" boat down the river and saw many reptiles (iguana / monitor lizard looking thingie) and even a small crocodile! It made the bumpy boat river even more nerve wrecking though I find it quite interesting. Not for the faint h...

It was the third day of school and it was his first field trip .. to the zoo! Unfortunately, Papa was sick so Grandma had to stand in last minute. Two classes of students went, the playgroup and the nursery one group. First part of the trip was in an interactive classroom when a zoo personnel talked about rearing pets at home and how to take care of a guinea pig and a rabbit and how we shouldn't keep a hedgehog at home. I didn't hear much of the talk as Cayen was squirming non stop. He really kicked up a fuss when he saw the rabbit as he wanted to touch it (but we couldn't until the short talk is over). Then, without hesitation or fear, he reached out to touch the hedgehog (but I didn't think he liked the sensation very much) and subsequently the rabbit. I wondered very much how much the playgroup kids are understanding the whole lesson but I guess an outing beats the routine classroom training anytime.   Next, we spent the next 90 minutes or so walking around the...

"We're going to the zoo zoo zoo ... how about you you you?"  The weather was finally looking better this morning so we made our way to Asia's largest zoo - the Taipei zoo  . While the facilities are not as high tech as Singapore but the zoo had everything it needed, from Pandas to Giraffes, Leopards and elephants. It was big but could be conquered in under 3 hours and the weather was absolutely lovely. What was the most memorable was the  Siamang  who was howling away , apparently to mark their territory. It was also quite scary as we were afraid it would jump out at us after it started swinging wildly. Next, we went to the Huaxi Street Night Market  (used to be famous for snake eating) to eat what was supposed to be the best 滷肉飯 ever .. "Ah1 Yi4 Lu3 Rou4 Fan4" , Eel noodles and this special fish called Si1 Mu4 Yu2. Cayen enjoyed the  滷肉飯 thoroughly , in fact he stole some fatty meats right under my nose when I was not looking.
