Cayson's 1 year old

Cayson's 1 year old .. Time really flies .. especially when you have 2 kids to reckon with. Here's some of his key achievements / milestones for the record:

- grand total of 4 teeth (2 on top and 2 below)
- not sure the weight and height but should be around 10kg (will update this after the one year check up)
- currently sleeps at 8.30pm, dreamfeeds at 11-11.30pm, wakes at 4-5am or on lucky days at 7am. 
- he's very athletic and super active, he can throw balls into the miniature hoop , got strong calf and thigh muscles , and can walk 4-5 steps independently. 
- he's not that steady when walking yet but he's already half running with a bit of support from Ah Po. He can do that for one hour walking in the house in repeated rounds. 
- he knows how to sit down on the orange little chair on his own even though he's not so steady yet. He figured out how to climb, stand and sit, 
- he's fearless .. he bounces right back after a fall.
- he loves his brother Cayen to bits , he worships his every song and dance and play. Though the snatching and fighting for toys have begun. He's a force not to reckon with already . 
- I have finally managed to increase his limited book reportoire from Brown Bear and Hungry Caterpillar to Baby Learns to Rock and Hands Hands Fingers Thumb. 
- his current vocabulary remains limited (probably cox he doesn't read so much as compared to Cayen ): Ball ball (for anything round), drop , throw , 丢, mama (he calls Da, me and Ah Po that..  maybe to him "Mama" is a wonder drug)
- he will groove to the beat whenever music is played .
- he likes on/off buttons. He figures how to turn things on real fast , including the keyword.
- he will cry now if he realise that he's being left behind at home (so we need to sneak out) 
- when he fusses before nap time , he will calm down when I sing the Bingo song .. and my own creation brainwashing song that goes "Cayson loves Mama, Mama loves Cayson"
- he's very excited to go on outings . He literally goes "yeah!!" in the lift 
- as he's so strong and so active , he managed to injure my dad till he needs to go to hospital (sorry Cayson, this goes down in history). 
- he's very sweet and will hold our hands or touch our skin  when he's drinking milk. And he can hold his own milk bottle and self feed now.

We went for curriculum updates last week for Cayson and the week before for Cayen. Bumped into the English teacher who told me that Cayen eats his lunch very well including vegetables (doesn't sound like him at all). She also mentioned that Cayen likes to test boundary. Recent case in point , teacher would ask the children to not talk in the toilet as it could be noisy for the children in the adjacent classroom. As he wasn't allowed to talk, he purposely started singing instead. Then our discussion was cut short and I wondered how the teacher responded to his singing eventually.  Nonetheless , this is one of the many instances where Cayen would not do things the conventional way. In Cantonese, I might even call him "Seng Mok" (savvy). For instance , previously , he was spotted sipping lime cordial juice on a plate -he has helped himself at the dispenser without my knowledge . Feedback from teachers

As part of the regular meet the parent session, I joined Cayson to make ice cream. Think I must be the only one who managed to tear two plastics bags in a row due to vigorous shaking. It’s good fun as Cayson tried his hand at making ice cream from Meiji strawberry milk.  Teacher’s feedback on him is still good as usual as he’s still quite an obedient and easy going kid though she did remark that he’s picky with some food like vegetables now. And whilst he’s 99% agreeable in the past, he’s been more prone to his own opinion (I read it as trying to get his way). And sometimes he followed his classmates’ action of scribbling away randomly during colouring when he used to colour carefully within the lines. Observations were quite in line with what we see at home. Recently he would cry when he doesn’t get his way. For instance, we were playing snakes and ladders and he started crying when I made him slide down when he hit a snake. He kept screaming “I want to win”. Later on, he proceeded to

This is dedicated to my dear friends who are expecting their bundle of joy very soon. Being a hassle-free type of mother who needs to go back to work after maternity leave, and also one who likes a good bargain, these are the things I personally find very useful, practical & cost saving. 1. A good breastfeeding pillow  - my Brestfriend  For some strange reason, I didn't see the need to invest in this initially. But this has to be the top 1 or 2 items I cannot live without during the first few months. No matter how I positioned the normal pillows, I just couldn't get the right positioning without straining my shoulders/ back. So yes, this is first on the list. Anyway, if your milk production is low, try papaya with fish soup and remember to drink lots of water.
