Good times seldom last 好不过三天

We were just chilling out last Friday evening for some quick desserts, trying to celebrate the small success of slightly better behaviour from Cayen over the past few days.

However, before my lava cake even arrived, we got a message from teacher again .. This time , we got not one but three pieces of bad news ...

"Dear parents, fyi... the afternoon teachers told me Cayen pulled out the stuffings of our cushions at the reading corner.

He took a scissor with him and he almost cut a friend's leg with a scissor. Lucky, friend was not hurt.

Also, this morning he asked me he wanted to go toilet to wash his hands. So I let him go but I reminded him not to play with water in the sink. He said yes and he looked sincere so I let him go without following him because he seemed to be behaving well lately. So maybe I can trust him this time. Later, his classmate came all wet and told me Cayen did that to him. I went to check in the toilet and the floor is all wet with water. I asked him first why did he play with water. He couldn't answer. I reprimanded him and he said sorry many times. I already kept all the scissors in the class out of their reach for safety."

Not sure why the behaviour deteriorate  so quickly just in one day ...and I'm so glad he didn't accidentally injure anyone.  Anyway , we suspended his reading privileges that night and was counselling him the whole night until he looked really repentful and apologised. Suspended his scissors and craft playtime too. Lastly , I made him watch a YouTube video on how kids bleed when they are injured. He looked a bit stunned. Hope that ingrained  in him the consequences.

I also tried to encourage him to make more friends in class apart from his usual clique. I figure that might be one of the solution .. He generally shares with his friends and conflicts will hopefully be minimised.

Also, starting Monday ie today, we will try to bring him down to the poolside after dinner to exercise (play ball) and try to play more with other kids to learn socialisation skills. Let's see if it works.
