Day 4 of school - glimmer of hope

Today, he didn't want to go into school and was apprehensive about entering the classroom.. Thankfully two girl classmates are tracing letters and he liked that so teacher gave him something to trace too. He didn't really want me to leave but I managed to leave after seeing him do a few tracing. 

Post Mortem at end of day was rather good ... He participated in all the activities and even hi-five with one girl. He thoroughly enjoyed the Gym class, the sand play and even gate crashed a bubble play by another class. 

Teachers' review thus far ..

"He is a fast learner, quite fluent in both english and chinese language. He is just very strong willed and likes to do things his way. He likes to do the exact opposites of what is asked from him. This is also the feedback of other teachers who are taking him for enrichment classes in the afternoon. He is clever but would always test his limits."

Reason for good behaviour today  ? 

Perhaps it's due to the behind the scene last night .. Ah Pa fed him tasty pomegranate which he recalled from Thailand trip. He loved it.

Ah Pa: 如果你明天乖，我就买个你吃

C: 为什么今天不乖也有？

Ah Pa: 因为我要让你知道乖有什么东西，不乖会错过什么东西

C: 明天我会乖...

Long pause .... 

C: 阿爸，乖，不乖， 乖，不乖，乖，不乖， 乖，不乖 , 乖，不乖， 乖，不乖. .... 有时候乖，有时候不乖，不是每天乖..

Goodness .. Still have caveat ! 

However, once I reached home, I learnt that he has been very naughty at home. He came back and pour the cats' water Into their food and purposely went to one corner to pee instead of doing it at the toilet. Sigh. Looks like the pent up naughtiness needs an outlet somewhere ...

We went for curriculum updates last week for Cayson and the week before for Cayen. Bumped into the English teacher who told me that Cayen eats his lunch very well including vegetables (doesn't sound like him at all). She also mentioned that Cayen likes to test boundary. Recent case in point , teacher would ask the children to not talk in the toilet as it could be noisy for the children in the adjacent classroom. As he wasn't allowed to talk, he purposely started singing instead. Then our discussion was cut short and I wondered how the teacher responded to his singing eventually.  Nonetheless , this is one of the many instances where Cayen would not do things the conventional way. Feedback from teachers

As part of the regular meet the parent session, I joined Cayson to make ice cream. Think I must be the only one who managed to tear two plastics bags in a row due to vigorous shaking. It’s good fun as Cayson tried his hand at making ice cream from Meiji strawberry milk.  Teacher’s feedback on him is still good as usual as he’s still quite an obedient and easy going kid though she did remark that he’s picky with some food like vegetables now. And whilst he’s 99% agreeable in the past, he’s been more prone to his own opinion (I read it as trying to get his way). And sometimes he followed his classmates’ action of scribbling away randomly during colouring when he used to colour carefully within the lines. Observations were quite in line with what we see at home. Recently he would cry when he doesn’t get his way. For instance, we were playing snakes and ladders and he started crying when I made him slide down when he hit a snake. He kept screaming “I want to win”. Later on, he proceeded to
